Burberry Christmas Tree
2015, London
Each year in London, Claridges Hotel commissions a prominent guest designer to create the hotel’s iconic christmas tree. Christopher Bailey, then Chief Creative Officer for Burberry, was approached in 2015 and designed a 6 meter tall tree assembled from 100 mirrored gold and silver umbrellas, and 76,000 interactive LED's.
Bild was approached by lighting designer Nick Gray of Renegade, with the brief of specing a control solution for the LED lighting that would enable hotel guests to bring the tree to life with their movements. Using Notch, together with Matt Swoboda we created an optical flow solution combining four cameras embedded within the tree. These fed into a disguise system triggering pre-defined sequences and interactive effects.
